Since 2011, McDonald’s has been supporting one of the largest youth football tournaments in Japan, where players aged 12 or younger from around the country compete and produced many J-League players and Japan National Team players. In 2021, we continued our support, including the distribution of the booklet “Football Player Book 2021” to 330,000 registered team players. We focus on promoting the healthy growth of children’s minds and bodies through our support of youths engaging in sports.Known as the “Koshien of elementary school,” McDonald’s Japan has been a sponsor since 1986. The 2021 tournament was held in Niigata Prefecture for the first time in two years. To support the games with no spectators, we setup a giant cheer mes-sage in the seating area and invited Koji Uehara, a former Major League Baseball player to excite the players. “Diamond,” the first official theme song of the tournament, was created by soliciting messag-es of support and passionate episodes for those who want to pursue their dreams in sports. In 2021, we continued our support, including the distribu-tion of the booklet “Baseball Player Book 2021” to 440,000 registered team players.Sustainability Report 2021 19Sustainability Report 2021 16https://www.mcdonalds.co.jp/sustainability/local/baseball/https://www.mcdonalds.co.jp/sustainability/local/soccer/Youth FootballJFA Japan U-12 Football ChampionshipYouth SportsYouth BaseballTakamadonomiya Cup All-Japan Rubber Baseball McDonald’s Tournament
